Praha House

For a growing young family a playful daily setting

Rype Interiors will be focusing on embedding playful aspects and post completion storage and zones into this two-storey home.

Clients come to us with a raft of ideas, some of which they know they love, some of which they think they like, and others are a combined opinion between a couple trying to satisfy both design tastes. Some people can visualise a space and them in it off a plan, and others need to be in the physical space to recreate it whilst sitting in that chair, wine in hand. All of these scenarios are why we exist - to make our Client’s lives easier and to facilitate them to enjoy their space, right down to that little detail of in-ceiling speakers or smart bedside table.

We couldn’t be more thrilled with the scope and design intent of this new home for a growing family. Whilst the house floor plan is set in stone, Rype Interiors will be focusing on embedding playful aspects and post completion storage and zones into this two-storey home. Well, we have some secrets up our sleeves to deliver this welcoming, fun and kid-friendly practical interior.

It is important to the family to be able to be connected with each other in each communal area, in addition to being able to disconnect from each other when required.

The dining space is connected via an open plan to the living and kitchen spaces and has some beautiful natural light filtering through to this area which is linked to the outdoor entertainment area. Our mood boards reflect what the design brief is for this combined area being playful aspects, biophilic connection through colours and plants, ensuring it is welcoming and kid-friendly and highly durable due to the inherent tendencies of the growing family. A playful pendant light will be featured inspired by the Dancing Pendant Lamp by Iskos - reminding one that you can always choose a graceful and playful approach.

Olive green tones are featured throughout the property to connect the spaces as one flows through the home. The communal first level spaces were centred around olive green due to its warm nature and the Hali Rugs Bliss rug in Olive.

On the second level, the bedrooms and bathrooms are found with the kid’s spaces being more playful in terms of colour, shapes and features. The kids’ rooms and office will have a colourful feature at the entry – being a naturally wavy painted finish around the doorway included painted architraves and jamb on the one side. We have decided to pursue a combination of feature painted ceilings and walls to create fun spaces whilst being practical and conscious of budget. Soft furnishings such as curtains and cushions combined with artwork will be featured throughout. Spoiler alert, we’re creating some custom floor cushions for some little and big kid enjoyment!

As the office is combined with the guest space, we need to create a work conducive zone which can motivate and spark creation, in addition to a welcoming space when guests stay over and do not necessarily need to see the office area. Stay tuned for this office and guest combined space, as we are sure it will please all with it’s professional and welcoming finishes.

Overall, this project will feature a raft of natural materials and tones which is elevated by the pops of fun colours in décor pieces, wallpaper and artwork. It was a pleasure in assisting our client to narrow down the raft of ideas, budget and identifying those key items which will make all the difference to how they enjoy the spaces and daily life within their new home. Now, the waiting game progresses until the home is constructed (ETA December 2022) whilst we procure all the pieces to make it warm and kid-friendly.
